The Present

Now at Halton Mill we are proud to be continuing The Colonel & Eva's love of community, & continually strive to reflect their ethos too in the work we do & how we provide for & support our our tenants, users & visitors.

Our Vision.

To create a vibrant and inspiring environment in which small businesses, social enterprises, community based organisations, craftspeople, artists and freelancers can flourish.

To do this with regard to the environmental impact of our business activities and to share resources and facilities.

Our Partners.

Lancaster Cohousing

Halton Mill is owned by the award winning Lancaster Cohousing, a new development of 41 Passivhaus eco homes next door to the Mill.
Many of the residents, who are committed to sustainable and neighbourly living, work from the Mill.

Halton Hydro

Halton Lune Hydro is a community based hydro scheme which has built a micro hydro turbine on a nearby weir. It started to produce electricity in December 2014, allowing Halton Mill to now run on 100 per cent on renewable energy.

British Canoeing

Halton Rapids is a natural section of river that enjoys good paddling conditions in clean water, even in times of low rainfall.
The site has hosted slalom competitions in the past but today is popular with recreational paddlers.
Managed by the volunteers of local canoe clubs, Halton Mill provides access to the rapids, plus changing, toilets & car parking.

Spot On Lancashire

Spot On is Lancashire’s rural and library touring network.
Halton Mill hosts a couple of SpotOn events a year, increasing the variety of events & shows that we offer.
