Exploring Embodied Experience by Helen Thompson

Exhibition December, 2 - January 11

Launch event Sunday December 7, 2pm - 4pm

In Exploring Embodied Experience, Halton-based visual artist Helen Thompson combines layers of mark-making, collage, and subtle figurative drawing to explore sensations, emotions, and subconscious imagery arising through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy.

The work reflects how trauma is stored within the body, and how these internal states can be translated and expressed visually through an embodied drawing process.

Exhibition Launch event: Exploring Embodied Experience

Sunday December 7, 2 - 4pm

Join Halton-based visual artist Helen Thompson for the opening of her solo exhibition Exploring Embodied Experience, developed through a CuratorSpace Artist Bursary.

Through layers of drawing, painting, and encaustic wax, Helen explores how memory and emotion are held within the body, translating sensations and imagery emerging through EMDR therapy into expressive visual form.

The afternoon will include refreshments and an informal artist walkthrough at 2.30pm, where Helen will share insights into her process and inspiration.

Visitors are also invited to contribute to a collaborative mark-making activity, creating a growing collective artwork that will remain in the space throughout the exhibition.

Free entry — all welcome.
