Watercolour Workshop: From First Wash to Finished Painting

This supportive half-day workshop is for people who’ve had a go at watercolour before but still consider themselves beginners — whether you’re self-taught, returning after a break, or have attended a class — and would like more confidence in taking a painting from start to finish.

We’ll begin with a brief recap of essential set-up and core techniques, then work step by step through the process of developing a painting — from first washes, through layering, to knowing when to stop.

Rather than copying a finished image, you’ll learn how to approach a painting, make decisions as you go, and develop a process you can return to in your own practice. Everyone works at their own pace and in their own style, with guidance and support throughout.

The emphasis is on learning, understanding and confidence-building, in a calm and encouraging environment.

The workshop is also sociable, offering the chance to paint alongside others, chat, and share ideas in a friendly, low-pressure setting.

Who’s it for:

People who’ve tried watercolour before (at home or in a class)

Those who still consider themselves beginners but want more structure

Anyone who enjoys painting but feels unsure how to finish a piece

Booking essential, materials and refreshments provided.
